The following table lists out recommended and minimum configurations for OrthoCAD (view PDF):

Graphics Card

OrthoCAD will work on most graphics card from the following manufacturers: 1) NVIDIA; 2) 3D Labs; 3) Intel.

The following cards are not supported: 1) ATI Rage Mobility; 2) ATI Xpert; 3) ATI 3D rage  

It is highly recommended to use the most updated drivers when installing a graphic adapter. 

 

Software

Microsoft Internet Explorer provided with the OrthoCAD installation CD.

Operating System

OrthoCAD is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP. 

New Apple computers that run 3rd party software to emulate Windows and Dual Boot Mac's will run OrthoCAD in the Windows environment.

Networks

OrthoCAD is fully compatible with Windows 2000 and Novell LAN. The automatic downloader supports dial up modems and all broadband configurations compatible with Internet Explorer (NAT, Proxy, Firewall, VPN etc.).

 

Procedures and Materials

Impression Taking Technique

High quality impressions and bite registration are essential for the OrthoCAD process.

Trays

High-quality disposable trays are required.

Adhesive must be applied with Styrofoam trays. Other disposable trays must have retention holes. Please make sure the excess alginate is not removed from the retention holes to maintain the quality of the impression.

Impressions – for OrthoCAD iQ

Any polyvinylsiloxane impression material is accepted.

Alginates – for Digital Models and Virtual Set-Up

Any type can be used. For best results, OrthoCAD recommends alginates with at least 100 hours dimensional stability.

Wax Bites

Any type can be used. Please ensure bites are applied properly.
